What you're describing sounds intermittent (a gush here and there). If there's a leak it would be like your kitchen sink faucet was turned on really low and left on. I Was told specifically from a doctor that an amnio leak would be very wet and constant. Vaginal discharge can smell earthy, musty and stinky. So the gush would be very wet and liquid, not thick and mucousy.

Amniotic fluid is essentially your baby's pee. I saw the amnio fluid when I had my procedure (they show you the tube to confirm the spelling of your name on the sample). I can't really say for sure what you are experiencing but I feel like it still sounds like vaginal discharge. It's okay sweet girl! Sounds like your southern region is stressing you out. I think I had sweat down there even before I was pregnant, but just didn't give it much of a though before. Anyway, I think I've come to the conclusion that the dampness in my undies is just sweat. It's a stick test they press against the fluid.

The conclusion I really came to from my research is that only a test done by your dr can tell. I also read that once it starts it would be constant leakage, so it wouldn't stop and start. REAL HELPFUL, right? The only thing I actually found helpful was one article I read suggested that you cannot stop an amniotic fluid leak by tensing your muscles, the way you would to consciously stop your urine flow. It can also be a big gush it just a trickle. It can be totally clear or brown or have some blood in it (accord to stuff on the internet). I was feeling so paranoid about this very topic just a few days ago and after doing a ton of googling came to the conclusion that it's pretty darn hard to tell if the wet is amniotic fluid or just sweat/normal vaginal discharge because although it can smell like seamen it can also be odourless or have a faint sweet smell.
